Chambord

This castle was originally built to be a hunting lodge, but then was turned into a palace. It has a keep with a fantastic double spiral staircase. Inspired by a design of Leonardo da Vinci, it is possible for two people to go up or down and pass one another without actually ever meeting. The roof of the keep bristles with chimneys, with doors and windows in odd places.
